Hello!
Nicole Miller is a practicing artist based in Calgary Alberta. She uses mixed materials with a focus on paint, to explore interaction and connection between people, presence, and social situations. She is currently completing her undergraduate bachelor of fine arts degree at Alberta, University of the arts.
Artist Statment
I am currently intensely inspired by social events, and more acutely, parties. Using a variety of materials, including fiber, photography, and painting I attempt to visualize the aspects of absence, presence, and altered states that can occur within human interactions between each others and their surroundings. I use vivid colors and lines to emphasize these conflicting terms. Something interesting is created at a party. There is a level of communication but complete distortion amongst participants and even their recollections afterwards, that makes each night a unique experience, making it an interesting focal point for my current practice.
